- Read about and research the discussion question in more depth
- Post your original discussion comments in WebCT
- Read through the other discussion postings and respond to at least one
- If you are the first discussion posting, you may need to wait a few days for your response to another posting
- Also, I suggest that you skim the lecture notes to get an overview of what you need to learn
- Note the relationships between the lecture notes and the textbook
- Lecture notes may highlight the text or may present information in a new way
During Class
- Attend the lecture, ask questions and participate in the discussions
- Note the Learner Outcomes for each lesson and concentrate on learning them
- After the lecture, review the summary and answer the Check Yourself questions
- This helps to reinforce your learning of the material
- If you cannot answer the questions, then follow up and find the answers
- If you cannot find the answer in the text, then ask a classmate or the instructor
- Suggestion: make a note and ask a question at the start of the next class
Completing Assignments
- Read the assignment carefully before you start
- If the assignment directs you to web sites, then read that information as well
- When you have analyzed the problem and developed a plan, then start writing the code
- Make sure you submit your assignments before the due date
- Late assignments are not accepted
- Submitting anything earns at least partial credit
Preparing for Quizzes
- After you complete the assignment you should be ready to take the quiz
- To study for each quiz, I have prepared some practice quizzes you can use
- If you miss questions on the practice quiz, go back and reread the textbook and/or lecture notes about the topic you missed
- You can take the practice quizzes as many times as you like
- When you seem to be scoring well, take the graded quiz
