Server-Side Scripting Technology Comparisons

Four scripting languages tried and tested: From zdnetindia.com circa October 2000. One of the more balanced comparisons of the major server-side scripting frameworks. However, note that Java has made significant performance improvements with their HotSpot compiler since this article was published.

JSP vs mod_php and mod_perl: Performance comparison of JSP, PHP and Perl on a Java application server named Resin.

J2EE vs. Microsoft.NET: Whitepaper commissioned by Sun comparing these two platforms. Thanks to Pat Ferrell for finding this timely article.

7 Reasons Why PHP is Better than ASP: A PHP advocate comparing ASP and PHP. His comments about gaining speed by not writing to the ADO interface ("No COM more speed") are pertinent, but the flip side is that you lose portability. The follow-up articles are also interesting.
