5/10: This Sunday, May 15, 12 noon -3:00 pm, the CIS/CS faculty will be throwing an Appreciation BBQ for our students. It will be held on the oceanside of the Aptos campus behind Sesnon House. We are asking folks to bring something to BBQ and we will provide drinks and salads (maybe even some dessert!).
5/3: Note that when you save the products.txt file for assignment 10, you maust save it in a UNIX file format. TextPad will do this for you if you select the correct option in the Save As dialog.
4/18: Trying to decide on a career? Here is the Winter 2005 survey from the National Association of Colleges and Employers: NACE Salary Survey
4/18: I changed the assignment 8 specifications to remove the requirement of using cout as a default parameter in the report() function. If you already coded this, you may keep it, but it is no longer required. In addition, I added some notes to the specifications to help you get started.
3/25: The midterms are graded and you can view your results in WebCT. We will go over the midterm at the next class meeting. For instruction on viewing your test results in WebCT, see the FAQ's page.
3/11: Some students have been asking about tab characters and indenting of their source code. Let me direct your attention to the documentation I provide: How To Document and Organize C++ Code. Look at section 5 and notice that you can simply run the program Artistic Style to fix up your code for tabs and indenting. For example:
astyle myfile.cpp
3/10: Day class: I updated the instructions for assignment 5 to remove the void functions. Using void functions is no longer required for the assignment.
3/3: Some student left the door propped open after class. Because of this, all students are required to leave after class and cannot stay and work on their exercises and assignments.
2/22: I updated the instructions for How To Install TextPad for CygWin to include configuration settings for compiling and running C++ programs.
2/18: I decided not to grade the first quiz because not everyone had equal access to the computer for looking up information.
2/13: Some people seem confused by directories and paths. Therefore, I added a section explaining directories to Lesson 1.4.6.
