12/11: Here is another extra credit opportunity worth 4 assignment points if completed by Tuesday 12/18. This extra credit also gives you an opportunity for a $10 gift certificate at the student store (HawkShop Bookstore). Cabrillo is developing an online orientation and would like your feedback on the Beta version. The instructions and forms are listed below. For extra credit you must follow the instructions and email a completed User Feedback Form to Mary Planding, with a copy to me, by 12/18. The feedback form must be a Word file or a text file. 11/14: I added some additional hints to A9-Calculate Your Grade.
11/08: I corrected the error in counting syllables for my example readability program. The problem was that I had left out "y" as a vowel. I updated the output for the assignment 8 extra credit to show the correct number of syllables.
11/06: Joey Silva informed me that has more tutoring hours than I originally posted. His expanded hours are:
- Monday: 8:30 AM - Noon
- Monday: 6:00 PM - 10:00 PM
- Tuesday: 3:30 PM - 5:30 PM
- Wednesday: 3:30 PM - 5:30 PM
- Saturday: 9:00 AM - Noon
Also, Joey will not be available on 11/19.
11/01: I rearranged the order of the lesson 8 lecture notes to put Separate Compilation at the end of the lesson. If you remember it at the beginning, do not be concerned. Note that the exercise on separate compilation (what is now 8.3) is extra credit while the other two exercises are required.
11/01: I decided to extend the due date for A7-Getting Classy. The new time and date are posted in WebCT.
10/12: WebCT/Blackboard will be down from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Wednesday October 17. Please plan accordingly.
10/11: Even more tutoring available! Joey Silva has added more hours for tutoring students of this class in the CTC. He is now available at the following times:
- Monday: 9:00 AM - Noon
- Monday: 6:00 PM - 10:00 PM
- Tuesday: 3:30 PM - 5:00 PM
- Wednesday: 3:30 PM - 5:00 PM
- Saturday: 9:00 AM - Noon
10/09: I decided to give extra credit for those who used constants rather than magic numbers on assignment 4. However, avoiding magic numbers is required on assignment 5 due on Thursday 10/11.
9/26: WebCT/Blackboard will be down from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM on Thursday. Please plan accordingly.
9/25: More tutoring available! Joey Silva will be available to tutor students of this class in the CTC at the following times:

9/20: Need help installing Cygwin? Then bring your computer and meet at the CTC on Friday 9/21 @ 1:00 PM for installation help. If you have a desktop computer, bring the box and we will loan you a keyboard, video and mouse. Got it all figured out and want to help others? If so, please come as well!
9/06: Need tutoring? A tutor can help you understand programming concepts and give you ideas for solving homework problems. Slade has volunteered to tutor students of this class in the MESA center at the following times:
- Monday and Wednesday: 1 - 5 PM
- Friday: 10 AM - 2 PM
